Pakistan Chess Players Association (PCPA) is going to conduct its "2nd PCPA Zahiruddin Farooqui Memorial Rapid Chess Championship 2012" from February 02-05, 2012 at Beach Luxury Hotel Karachi in which players from all over Pakistan will take part. This will be a 8 round, swiss league rapid tournament with a time control of 55 minutes each to finish the game (without increment/ delay).
Winner will receive Rs.25000/ from total prize fund of Rs.125,000/. A Registration fee of Rs. 100 for the year 2012 is compulsory for all the participants. Entry fee is Rs.500/ last date is January 10, 2012 . Invited players are entitled to Free entry with TA/DA and Accommodation.

Entries:
(A) Free entry with TA/DA and Accommodation:
- Out station players amongst the top eight (8) of last National championship.
- If any province does not have a place amongst the top eight (8) of last National then at least
- one top ranking player of National of such Province may also be accommodated.
- Out station players amongst the top five women/girls of last National.
- One player each from top two teams of last Inter University Chess Champion ship.
Payment of TA/DA allowances:
a. International Master: Rs. 10,000b. Fide Master & National Champion: Rs. 9,000
c. National Masters & others: Rs. 8,000
Note: Or Players will be provided break fast plus lunch at the Hotel Plus Rs. 5000. Against T/A
and night meals. It is at the discretion of the tournament committee.
(B) Free entry with out TA/DA & accommodation:
- All National Masters:
- One player each from the top four teams of International Schools Educational Olympiad.
(C) Paid entry: Non Masters Rs. 500
Registration:
- A Registration fee of Rs. 100 for the year 2012 is compulsory for all the participants.
- All entries are subject to approval of Tournament Scrutiny Committee.

I am sorry for the late response.
Miss Nida Siddiqui was making final report of the event for chessbase. She promised me to send it to me too, for which I am still waiting. If she does not respond for more 1 or 2 days, I shall make it myself and shall be published on front module.

The visit to Pakistan of GM Dr. Nigel Short as a Guest of Honour of PCPA was simply “historic”, Un-presented electronic and print media coverage was given and especially by country’s most respected news paper “Dawn”
Lots of efforts were made by the whole team of PCPA to make the PCPA championship a “first” (I can give a long list of these firsts) in so many ways; I regret that “Pakchess” being the only site in Pakistan for chess had not taken much notice of it. So much so that there is not a single photo on the main page among and in between the photos of many international events photos shown on the main page. Does such an important chess activity deserve more attention by Pakchess?

Please update me about the shedule and venue of any forthcoming chess tournament. I have been cut off from you and many other chess players ever since I retired from Karachi University. But my love for this fascinating game has not dwindled: I regularly play on-line chess on the Yahoo site.
I would deeply appreciate if I could participate in a tournament, and be able to promote chess in any capacity.

Live Games
There is a technical issue regarding live games in which pakchess is not involved. But I can guess there is some thing wrong with BoCo (Board Communicator). Games will be available here as soon as the issue is resolved by PCPA organizers.

We are making more efforts to raise the fund for the Championship through sponsorship. If we succeeded in this project then we will be able to accommodate more out station players with with better facilities and enhanced prize fund. In this respect our media adviser has suggested that championship name should be " 2nd PCPA chess championship" and in the second line for "Zahiruddin Farooqui Trophy"
