The 8th Calvia Chess Festival is taking place place from 8 to 16 October 2011 in the Sala Palmanova (5min. Walking from the Magaluf Park Hotel) Calvia, Spain. The Festival consists of Amateur International Open and U16 Rapid & Blitz. It is a 9 round swiss event with a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move 1 in which to complete the whole game. All the players who are not present in their board until 30 minutes after the round starting time will forfeit their games.  Players rated below 2300 (1st september 2011 list) with no IM or GM title are eligible to participate. Total prize fund is 6800 Euros.
